Carillon likely to be placed into administration or liquidation today as talks with its lenders breakdown Carillion employs 20,000 people in the UK but has debts of more than £1.5bn including a huge shortfall on its pension scheme.

It is a huge supplier in the public sector and in the last 6 months was awarded government contracts of more than £2bn despite issuing three profit warnings.

Very sad day for its employees and suppliers.
