Two directors, Lee Pitchford and Jason Pollard, of Baker Donald Limited have both given undertakings to be disqualified from directly or indirectly becoming involved in the promotion, formation or management of a company, both for 10 years.

Baker Donald Limited started life as a hairdressers but subsequently restyled as an insolvency practice, providing debt collection services and general insolvency advice to corporate clients and referring them to an insolvency practice.

The company only traded for a year of so before the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation & Skills issued a winding up petition in the public interest.

The investigation found a raft of misdemeanors including failing to maintain accurate records, misappropriation of funds and failing to act with transparency.

This is a clear case of two individuals not being fit to be directors of a limited company especially given the type of service the company was providing.  The case also serves as a warning to all directors to ensure they comply with their obligations.
