People dealing with debt will, from 6 April this year, be able to access online bankruptcy forms.

Bankruptcy orders will not be dealt with in Courts any more and individuals who consider bankruptcy their best option will be able to apply and pay for a bankruptcy order online.  The fee will also be cheaper at £130 (payable online by installments) as opposed to the £180 current Court fee.

Once an online application has been submitted, an adjudicator will decide and if appropriate rubber stamp the bankruptcy order which will then be passed to the Official Receiver.

The idea is that this will provide people in financial crisis with a swift solution to their problems without having to go through the Court system.
