Illegal Workers Warning…

The Insolvency Service have recently reported that they have recently disqualified a hotel owner for 7 years.

Galam Saber Malek, a director of Bayeswater Limited, was found to have employed five illegal workers in his hotel business which went into liquidation on 5 April 2013.

The business owed almost £140k, including £25k which was an outstanding fine for employing illegal workers.

Whilst it may be tempting to employ illegal workers as they are not protected by employement law and are cheaper to employ, if caught, directors face huge fines and disqualification if the company goes bust.

It is important for anybody facing financial difficulties, whether personally, directors of limited companies or partnerships, to seek advice from a licensed insolvency practitioner as soon as possible.
