The flight of the Ukrainian …..

Firms of accountants, tax advisors & insolvency are being warned by the ICAEW to be extra vigilant if they are contacted by Ukrainian persons.

There is a high risk of asset flight from the Ukraine at the moment and the quick liquidation of assets held in the UK by Ukrainian Nationals.

Firms are being urged to take a robust approach to investigating benefical ownership and ensure that they have water tight anti money laundering systems in place.  Businesses are being urged to be extra vigilant in respect of monies being transferred from the Ukraine as there is a possibility that these monies will be the proceeds of crime.

The message is clear, if you have any suspicions, report them!

It is important for anybody facing financial difficulties, whether personally, directors of limited companies or partnerships, to seek advice from a licensed insolvency practitioner as soon as possible.
