Moonlighting may be costly!

People who have a second income, be it moonlighting as a taxi driver, making and selling craft items or even car booters had better watch out.  HM Revenue and customs have decided to launch a campaign to recover tax from such un-declared income.

Individuals are being ‘invited’ by the revenue to come clean and declare their additional income, if they do, they may get lighter penalties should tax have been due.  The Revenue has the powers to go back for up to 20 years!

Individuals who fear they may fall into this category are being advised to get their paperwork in order as this will be taken into account when HMRC are assessing penalties.

It is important for anybody facing financial difficulties, whether personally, directors of limited companies or partnerships, to seek advice from a licensed insolvency practitioner as soon as possible.
