Is being civil better than issuing a claim – the rising cost of civil claims!

In an attempt to reduce the amount of tax payers money needed to fund the justice system, the Government have decided to increase fees of civil and commercial cases by up to 600%!

Although the fee hike is for claims of over £10k, (the fee for claims below £10k will not change) business owners with tight cash flow will have to think twice before bringing proceedings.  For example to bring a claim with a value of £150k, the fees have increased from £1,315 to £7,500.

It is important for anybody facing financial difficulties, whether personally, directors of limited companies or partnerships, to seek advice from a licensed insolvency practitioner as soon as possible.
