The amount of debt for which a person can petition for another’s bankruptcy has been increased from £750 to £5,000. This comes into effect on 1 October 2015.
This could mean that we see a lot less bankruptcy petitions brought by disgruntled creditors as it removes a threat that can be used to try and get a debtor to pay up!
It is important for anybody facing financial difficulties, whether personally, directors of limited companies or partnerships, to seek advice from a licensed insolvency practitioner as soon as possible.
