Denis Christopher Carter Lunn (known as Christopher Lunn), accountant and tax advisor to the media industry, has been jailed for 6 years for tax evasion to the tune of £6 million.

His actions, which included inflating his accountancy fees and the fraudulent use of trading lossess, were all designed to help Lunn and his clients evade paying the correct amount of tax.

Although his clients were not aware of his actions, they have been advised to come forward and pay tax that is properly due.  To date, over £20 million has been recovered with an expected further £20 million when all the clients have settled.

Hats of to HMRC for their hard work in bringing this case to Court – it took over 5 years, the same amount of time that Lunn will languish at Her Majesty’s pleasure.

But a warning to taxpayers looking for an advisor – choose carefully!
