Director of a charity fundraiser company disqualified

CS Fundraising Limited (CSF) was incorporated in June 2008 and traded as a professional fundraiser for charities based in Herefordshire.

CSF was responsible for nine different charities, of which the company took over the assets and contracts.  At its best, CSF was sending out roughly 150,000 mail donation letters every month on behalf of these charities.

Christopher John Stoddard who was the director of CSF admitted he misled the public in that the solicitation statements of the company did not comply with the requirements of charity laws. Between July 2013 and September 2014 he caused CSF to retain public donations of at least £125,634.  Also, between July 2013 and December 2014 he breached the duty of trust of which owed to CSF by failing to act in the best interest of the company.

The Secretary of State for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy accepted a disqualification undertaking from Christopher John Stoddard on 13th June 2018.  Meaning he can only become involved in the promotion, formation or management of a company with permission from the court, of which is not guaranteed, for nine and a half years.
