Restaurant war zone!!

The moratorium on evictions which was introduced in April, may have helped struggling businesses over the lockdown period, but has it been fair to the landlords?

With the date for the end of the moratorium looming (30 September) restaurants are lobbying the Government asking for support in the form of a moratorium extension so that they cannot be evicted.  In addition, restaurant bosses are saying that landlords should not be able to demand the missed payments once the moratorium comes to an end, rather that the repayments should be spread across a year.

There is a real threat that on 1 October, commercial landlords will take action once the moratorium is lifted.  This has the potential to be a metaphoric war zone!
